Dorothy W. D'Ambrosi, daughter of the late Roseanne and Clarence Aldridge Simmons, was born in Gloversville on May 31, 1923. She succumbed to pneumonia and heart failure on March 2, 2013, with her loving family and friends by her side. She was attended by the caring staff at Ellis Hospital.
She received her education in Gloversville schools. She was employed by Coleco Industries for many years in addition to raising her three children. She loved spending time with family and friends, going to casinos, lawn sales, shopping, watching "Judge Judy" on TV, playing pinochle, and recently reading.
She is survived by many who loved her including the following: her son, John E. Snyder, with whom she resided with in Randall; her daughter, Patricia A. (James) Nellis; and her son, David P. (Margaret) Ashline; grandchildren, William J. Nellis, Susan M. (Kevin) Terleckey, James A. II (Lori) Nellis, Jeffery Ashline, David Ashline Jr. and Amy (Ryan) Havranek. Many great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive her.
She was predeceased by three husbands, Louis D'Ambrosi, Arthur Ashline and Alfred Snyder; one brother, Robert Simmons; two sisters, Edna Walters and Mildred Simmons; and one granddaughter, Deborah A. Murphy Nellis.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, March 7, 2013, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Gloversville Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at noon.
