FONDA - Montgomery County officials are developing a new transportation plan for the county.
According to Montgomery County Business Development Center's Economic Development Specialist Jacki Meola, Montgomery County wants to update the nearly 4-year-old Countywide Coordinated Transportation Plan.
Meola said the plan is due for an update every three years. She also said the 2009 plan is based on the 2000 census. Numbers from the 2010 census now can be used.
Meola said the current plan includes daily runs that go from Amsterdam to St. Johnsville, as well as Gloversville.
Meola said there are also special runs to Albany.
She said the funding for transportation comes from federal grants.
The county, contracting services such as Brown Coach of Amsterdam, and the municipalities of Amsterdam and Gloversville receive grants to pay for the transportation.
During a meeting Tuesday, Meola said 14 concerned groups, representing local hospitals, businesses and other stakeholders, talked about the plan and gave suggestions.
"They talked about where the gaps in services were," Meola said.
Specifics for a revised plan have not yet been developed, Meola said. She said another meeting will be scheduled.
