Frank J. Christiano, 69, of Gloversville, N.Y., and Port Richey, Fla., died Wednesday at St. Mary's Healthcare, Amsterdam.
Born on August 11, 1943, in Gloversville, he was the son of Peter and Lena Salvatore Christiano. He was a 1962 Gloversville High School graduate and in 1968 earned his associate's degree at Fulton-Montgomery Community College, Johnstown. He had also attended SUNY Albany.
He was a United States Navy veteran serving from 1962 to 1966 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
Frank was united in marriage to his wife, Mary Jane Raczynski Christiano, on November 28, 1970. They resided in Webster, N.Y., for 30 years. He had been employed by various bank branch offices as an assistant manager in the Rochester, N.Y., area.
Frank returned to this area after the death of his wife on April 9, 2000.
He enjoyed hiking, reading and coin collecting. He loved animals, especially his cat, Krystle.
In addition to his wife, Frank was predeceased by his father, Peter Christiano.
Survivors include his mother, Lena Salvatore Christiano of Gloversville; brothers, Joseph Christiano of Las Vegas, Nev., and John Christiano and his wife, Susan, of Gloversville; niece, Amie Christiano and her husband, Garry; and nephew, Peter Christiano and his wife, Jennifer; aunts, uncles, cousins and his wife's relatives, the Popielarz family.
A funeral home service will be conducted on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam, N.Y., at 11:30 a.m., with the Reverend R.W. Williams officiating. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral chapel.
Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam, with military honors.
Donations may be made in memory of Frank to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral chapel.
