Marshall D. Alessi, of 68 W. Eighth Ave., was charged today with second-degree identity theft and fourth-degree grand larceny, both felonies.

Police said charges were brought after an investigation found Alessi used an acquaintance's Social Security number several times from Jan. 22 to Feb. 6 to purchase more than $2,000 worth of items online utilizing a PayPal account. Police said Alessi had the packages delivered to his residence.
