Joseph C. Salvione Sr.

February 24, 2013
The Leader Herald

Joseph C. Salvione Sr., born December 22, 1935, in Gloversville, New York, peacefully passed away on February 23, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Joe was one of six children born to Michael Salvione Sr., and Hildegarde Horender Salvione. Joe was a graduate of Gloversville High School.

Joe had an adventurous spirit his entire life. He spent several years in Daytona Beach, Florida, exploring land and sea while engaging his intrinsic talent with automobiles. When he returned to Gloversville, Joe went to work for Garlock Cadillac/Oldsmobile, beginning in the body shop and progressing to sales. He later joined the staff at John C. Miller Lincoln/Mercury, where he enjoyed selling cars to many of his friends and family over the years.

Joe developed a love of boating while in Florida, learning to captain many types of vessels and navigating in the "high seas," as he referred to it. He often joked that "a boat is a hole in the water into which you throw money" but you could tell his enjoyment far outweighed any downside. He continued boating his entire life both in Florida and on his "home lake" - the Great Sacandaga, his home of 46 years.
