William C. Conyne Jr.

Mr. William C. Conyne Jr., age 66, of Mayfield, died unexpectedly on Friday, February 22, 2013, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.

He was born November 12, 1946, in Gloversville, the son of the late William Sr. and Alice Hibbard Conyne.

Known to his friends and co-workers as either "K-9" or "Hippie," he began working for Tanney's Motor Freight in 1966, then in 1981 for Mushroom Transportation, then in 1986 for Lions Transportation Lines (LTL) and in 1991 he worked for New Penn Motors in Albany and then as a road driver until retiring in 1996. He served for 31 1/2 years as a Teamster and member of Local 294.

Bill was a bowler and an avid golfer. He was a member of Gloversville Moose Lodge #351 since 1966 and also Bleecker Fish and Game Club. He was a Ranger on Scout Island since 1990. He loved being on the Sacandaga Lake and Scout Island or jumping in the RV and traveling the roads.

He was married on August 5, 1967, to Charlotte S. Perham, who survives. Also surviving are: two sons, William C. Conyne, III (Robin Collier) of Gloversville and Operations Specialist 1st Class (SW-AN) James Conyne (Merlinda) of Imperial Beach, Calif,; a sister, Gloria Klymkow of Mayfield; two brothers: Danny Conyne (Deb) of Gloversville and Richard Conyne (Nanette) of Mayfield; nieces and nephews: David Klymkow, Todd Klymkow, Peter Conyne, Crystal Conyne-Gillen, John Conyne and Jacob Conyne; as well as his father in law and mother in law, Sanford and Cecilia Perham. Several cousins also survive.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will take place in the spring at Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Mayfield Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O. Box 722, Mayfield, NY 12117.
