JOHNSTOWN - Police said a man Thursday broke down an apartment door and smashed a flat-screen TV before the reported attack was stopped by the victim's dog.

Mathew J.H. Bright, 24, of 2 Water St., was charged at 9 p.m. with second-degree burglary, fourth degree criminal mischief, and third degree assault.

Police said Bright used a shovel to break down the door of the upstairs apartment at 2 Water St. Authorities said he then used the shovel to destroy a flat screen TV. Police said he reportedly assaulted the occupant of the residence and then was attacked and injured by the victim's dog.
