Thelma Lucille Hammond, age 100, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 11, 2013, at the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home in Gloversville, N.Y. She had been a resident there for three weeks.
The daughter of Walter J. and Marion Hammond, Thelma was born September 14, 1912, in Colbrook, New Hampshire. She graduated from high school and spent most of her youth in New Hampshire, and later moving to Northville, N.Y., with her family.
She was employed for many years as a bookkeeper for the Northville Glove Factory and later for the Adirondack Furniture Corp.
Thelma was a member of the Northville United Methodist Church and Eastern Star. She enjoyed family, playing cards, word searches, and the New York Yankees.
She was predeceased by her brother, Gordon J. Hammond and is survived by a niece, Karen (Hammond) Springett of Morris, N.Y., two nephews, Walter J. Hammond of Black River, N.Y., William C. Hammond of Clinton, Mass.; and several great-nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours. Spring burial will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Northampton Ambulance Squad.
