Dolgeville volleyball to play for title

TURIN - Trailing 2-1 after three games, the Dolgeville volleyball team rallied to post a 3-2 win over second-seeded Sandy Creek in a Section III Class C-2 semfinal match at South Lewis High School on Wednesday.

The third-seeded Blue Devils won by scores of 8-25, 25-14, 21-25, 25-20 and 25-19.

Ashley Mettler finished with 23 digs, 21 kills, 10 assists and three aces for Dolgeville, while Mikey Rubas posted 10 kills, two aces, two blocks and two digs.

Kiersten Manchester registered 10 digs for the Blue Devils, Taylor Brandow had eight digs, four blocks and three kills, and Emily Young added 19 assists, six digs, four kills and two aces. Abby Mosenthin finished with eight digs, five kills and two aces for Dolgeville.

Kylie Hanni finished with 15 kills and two blocks to lead Sandy Creek, while Michaela Martin had five aces and five kills. Viki White had 17 assists for the Comets and Kylie Martin added 18 assists.

Dolgeville (13-5 overall) will face top-seeded Morrisville-Eaton on Saturday at noon at Chittenango High School. Morrisville-Eaton (16-2 overall) posted a 3-0 win over No. 5 seed Waterville on Wednesday, winning 25-19, 25-19 and 25-20.

Sandy Creek finishes its season with a 15-5 overall record.
