SCHENECTADY - Canajoharie finished third at the Section II Class C-D boys bowling championships Monday at Boulevard Bowl.
The Cougars finished with a team total of 5,608 pins. Hoosick Falls won the title for the second straight year, winning with a total of 5,822 pins. Mechanicville was second with a total of 5,657.
"I'm happy we finished third. We were only 51 pins out of second," Canajoharie coach Dwayne Heroth said. "We had a good season."
The Cougars won the Western Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament titles this season.
Fonda-Fultonville (5,382) was ninth, Fort Plain (4,705) was 16th and Mayfield (4,489) was 19th in the team standings.
Hoosick Falls' Ken Marbot had the high total of the day with a six-game effort of 1,317 pins.
Granville's Pat Loomis had the high three-game series of the day with a 706.
Damon Mason led Canajoharie with a six-game total of 1,170, which included a 599 three-game series in the morning session and a 551 series in the afternoon session.
Bailey Pitonza rolled a 1,160 six-game total for the Cougars, which featured a 236 high game and a 608 three-game series in the afternoon session.
Gordon Kuntzsch led Canajoharie in the morning session with a 220-625.
Fonda-Fultonville was led by Cody Harding who rolled an 1,163 six-game series with a high game of 233.
Robert O'Kosky posted a 1,099 for the Braves with a high game of 214.
"This is a great success for our school as we placed in the top 10 out of all the schools that we competed against," Fonda-Fultonville coach Lisa Dumar said. "My bowlers did an amazing job and I am very proud of all of them for their talent and making this a winning season for our school."
The Section II Tournament continues today with the Class A tourney and Wednesday with the Class B tournament.

Class C Girls
CLIFTON PARK - The Fonda-Fultonville girls finished fourth out of eight schools Thursday at the Section II Class C Tournament at Spare Time Lanes.
The Lady Braves finished with a team total of 3,881 pins.
Mechanicville won the team title with a total of 5,082 pins, while Mayfield was second with 4,671. Fort Plain (3,763) was fifth and Canajoharie (3,639) was seventh.
Guilyan O'Kosky led FFCS with a 926 six-game total with a high game of 170. Samantha Sweet added a 842 six-game series with a 177 high game, while Pamela Congdon posted a 762 six-game total.
"This is a great success for our school as my goal was to place in the top five and we did it," Fonda-Fultonville coach Lisa Dumar said. "I'm very proud of all my bowlers for their wonderful efforts in this sport."
Cassie Hammond rolled a 215 high single and Virginia Johnson a 541 triple for Mayfield, while Fort Plain's Beth Mallett added a high game of 214.
