Frank W. Hayes Jr.

Frank W. Hayes Jr., 74, of 118 Blowers Road, town of Mayfield, formerly of Caroga Lake, passed away on January 25, 2013, at Mountain Valley Hospice House of Gloversville, N.Y., with Sandy and his children by his side.

Frank was born on August 17, 1938, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, son of the late Frank Hayes and Evelyn Schreivogel.

Frank served in the U.S. Armed Forces from 1958-1963. Frank was employed by General Electric, where he retired from.

Frank enjoyed reading western novels, playing with his dog, Keegan, playing cards and spending time with Sandy and his family.

Mr. Hayes was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Evelyn Hayes; his son, Frank W. Hayes III; and his brother, Donald Hayes.

Mr. Hayes is survived by his wife, Sandra L. Himes-Barron of Vermont; his children, Kathryn Eighmey of Bridgeport, N.Y., Kimberly Sanders of Johnstown, N.Y., Shane (Donna) Hayes of Radcliff, Ky., Shiloh Hayes of Sandisfield, Mass., and Tammy Hayes of Caroga Lake, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; his siblings, Allen (Dawn) Hayes and Judy Snell; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

A military burial was held on Wednesday, January 30, at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, N.Y., with a reception immediately following at the Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville, N.Y. for family and friends. A special thanks goes out to the loving and caring people at Mountain Valley Hospice and to Chaplain R.W. Williams for all their support.

Memorial contributions in Frank's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Albany, NY 12211 and to the Brennan Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher St., Johnstown, NY 12095. His cremation was entrusted to Vale Crematory in Schenectady, N.Y. Condolences to the family may be made online by visiting their website at www.barterdonnan.com.
