GLOVERSVILLE - City police said a man was arrested Tuesday, and a gun and crack were found in his apartment.
Jamel Johnson, 24, of 67 Broad St., Apartment 2, was arrested on a parole warrant and wanted by the state Division of Parole for several parole violations including failure to report, failed home visits and curfew violations.
Police said officers assisted the New York and New Jersey Fugitive Task Force with the warrant. Police said a task force investigation learned Johnson was in the Broad Street apartment.
Police said after Johnson was arrested by the task force, officers executed a search warrant at Johnson's apartment. Police said officers found a Kel-Tec 9mm. self-loading carbine for pistol cartridges, a high capacity pistol magazine, a quantity of crack packaged for sale, a small quantity of marijuana and an unspecified amount of cash.
Johnson is being held in jail on his parole violations. Police said he also will be charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.
"The marshals charged him on the parole violations and he will be charged by us when he is returned back here," Police Chief Donald VanDeusen said.
