Merle A. Schneider

Merle A. Schneider, age 74, of Johnstown, (formerly of Trumbull, Connecticut), passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home, Gloversville, after a brief illness.

Mrs. Schneider was born on August 27, 1938, in Norwalk, Connecticut, the daughter of Albert Vanak and Ann Gleason Vanak.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed playing in various bowling leagues and was a board member of the Women's International Bowling Congress. She loved spending time at Caroga Lake with her friends and family.

Merle is survived by: two sons, Robert E. Schneider Jr. of Connecticut and Scott (Frances) Schneider of Johnstown; two brothers, Paul Vanak of Florida and Bruce Vanak of Connecticut; two grandsons, Robert E. Schneider III and Jason Schneider; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Schneider was predeceased by her husband Robert E. Schneider Sr.

In keeping with Merle's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.

Cremation will be at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.

The family would like to send their sincere thanks to Deb Lobdell, who provided such compassionate care to Merle and her family during the last several years, as well as to the staff at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
