FLORIDA - An Amsterdam man faces nine charges after he was found on Route 5S intoxicated behind the wheel, authorities said.
Troopers responded to a report of a vehicle off the road at 10:04 p.m. Jan. 4.
Michael A. Agosto, 27, was charged with driving while intoxicated with two previous convictions within the last 10 years, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, use of another vehicle without an interlock, failure to use designated lane, crossing road hazard markings, moved from lane unsafely, speeding and failure to take a breath test.
Agosto received the obstruction of governmental administration charge after he failed to cooperate with responding troopers and was elusive and actively attempted to hinder the responding officers at the scene of the accident.
Troopers said Agosto was ordered by a court to drive a vehicle with an interlock ignition device, but he was stopped driving a vehicle that was not equipped with the device.
Agosto was held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
