BROADALBIN - The village Department of Pubic Works will collect residents' Christmas trees along with regular garbage.
Residents are reminded, however, that garbage and trees are not to be left on the snow banks. This is for the safety of the DPW workers, according to a news release from town officials.
Garbage and trees left on snow banks will not be collected. They should be left in the open portion of the driveway on the evening before collection.
Garbage is picked up in the village each Monday. During snow or ice storms, the DPW will try to collect garbage after plowing if conditions permit, the release said.
When holidays or storms prevent collection on a Monday, garbage will be picked up on Tuesday. When garbage cannot be picked up on Monday or Tuesday, it will be picked up the following week. Residents are encouraged not to put out garbage during significant snowstorms to minimize garbage being buried in snow.
The village will advise residents via the village web mail system when garbage pick-up is delayed. To sign up for e-mail notices, write to firstname.lastname@example.org asking to be placed on the list.
