Gertrude L. Jackson

Gertrude L. Jackson of Johnstown, N.Y., passed away on December 28, 2012. She was born on April 8, 1915, in Johnstown to the late Edward J. and Mary C. Lyons.

She was a life member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a graduate of St. Patrick's School in 1929. She attended Johnstown Public High School.

She married Kenneth E. Jackson on November 3, 1935. When Kenneth passed away on June 7, 1993, they had been married nearly 57 years.

Gertrude was a charter member of St. Patrick's Rosary Society, a past member of the Catholic Daughters of America No. 42 and a past member of the Johnstown Senior Center.

She was a telephone operator in the 1930s and also worked at the former Elmer Little & Sons as a payroll clerk in the general office for over 20 years.

After retirement she returned to work at the Senior Group of Fulton County Office for the Aging from 1994-1999.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Edward A. and John T. Lyons; sisters, Anne Lyons Smith, Catherine Lyons and Mary L. Fazzio. She was also predeceased by very special niece, Deborah A. Lyons of Newark, N.Y. Survivors include many beloved nieces and nephews, Robert M. Lyons of Newark, N.Y., Dominick E. and Mary Agnes Fazzio of California, Mary Jane and Mark Sementelli of Webster, N.Y., John K. Fazzio of Johnstown, N.Y., Melanie Chamberlin of Rochester, N.Y., Daniel T. and Christina Fazzio of California. She is also survived by many loving great-nieces and nephews.

The family will schedule a Mass of Christian burial at St. Patrick's Church, Johnstown, N.Y. at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled through Amico Funeral Home, 150 South Main Street, Gloversville N.Y.
