Mr. Arnold A. Goodbread, age 85, of Gloversville, died Monday evening, December 31, 2012, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, following a short illness.
He was born March 7, 1927, in Gloversville, the son of the late Adam and Luella Stock Goodbread. He served in the Air Force during World War II as an aircraft mechanic.
Arnold was employed many years ago at the former Liberty Leather and Independent Leather companies. For many years he was a well-known beverage salesman in the area for Bartyzel Inc. of Amsterdam until his retirement.
An avid sportsman, he loved hunting and fishing. He and his wife camped at Seventh Lake in Inlet for 29 years. He was a member of the former Foresters and Eagles lodges in Gloversville.
He is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Joyce A. Lewis Goodbread, whom he married on June 9, 1951. His daughter, Gayle M. Goodbread, lives in Santa Rosa, Calif. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Arnold was the youngest and final survivor of his family of seven. His predeceased siblings were: Kenneth Goodbread, Dayton Goodbread, Merwin Goodbread, Vernice Lasher, Gladys Ambrosino and Vivian Goodbread.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, January 5th, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at noon, with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the charity of your choice.
