Jacques ‘Jack’ LaVoie

Jacques "Jack" LaVoie, 70, of Tribes Hill, passed away on December 30, 2012, with his loving family by his side. He was a lifelong area resident and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Born March 10, 1942, in Amsterdam to the late Jacques S. LaVoie and Louise Lusso LaVoie, Jack was a family man who always put others first. In 1962, he graduated from Fonda-Fultonville High School. On August 31, 1963, he was united in marriage to his loving wife of 49 years, Anna "Peggy" Luciano. Jack was always quick to be generous to his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a former member of the Screaming Eagle Model Airplane Club. Jack was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to watch the late #3 Dale Earnhardt, and #29 Kevin Harvick.

Jack is survived by his wife; Anna "Peggy" LaVoie, daughters; Liza LaVoie, and Leann Piazza(Carmen), half-brother; Kenny LaVoie(Laurie), half-sister; Linda Cleary(Jim), grandchildren; Mary Grace Piazza, Peter Piazza, Carmelo Piazza Jr., Kelsey Barkley, and Ethan Barkley. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his parents, brothers; Neil "Burger" LaVoie, David "Horace" LaVoie, and Michael LaVoie. Jack was also pre-deceased by a grandson; Noah Barkley who passed November 30, 2000.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday January 3, 2013 from 3 to 6 p.m. A private interment will take place at St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Fonda, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in Jacks' memory to The Montgomery County S.P.C.A., P.O. Box 484, Amsterdam, N.Y., 12010.
