Warrensburg wins Johnstown Duals

JOHNSTOWN - Warrensburg went 4-0 to win the team title at the Johnstown Duals on Saturday.

The Burghers posted wins over Cairo-Durham (72-12), Fonda-Fultonville (72-15), Johnstown (72-18) and Canajoharie-Fort Plain (57-29) on their way to the title.

Canajoharie-Fort Plain finished second, going 3-1 on the day with wins over Cairo-Durham (57-24), Fonda-Fultonville (43-40) and Johnstown (45-42.

Fonda-Fultonville went 2-2 to place third, while host Johnstown went 1-3 to place fourth. Cairo-Durham went 0-4 and finished fifth.

In its first match of the day, Canajoharie-Fort Plain eked out a 43-40 decision over Fonda-Fultonville.

Gordon Trahan (126 pounds), Ken Sullivan (138), Tim Roberson (152) and Jordan Griswold (160) won by pinfall for Canajoharie-Fort Plain (7-7 overall).

Soren Hudyncia posted an 8-5 decision over Fonda-Fultonville's Thomas TenEyck at 120 pounds, while Jon Payack (106), Morgan VanAvery (195) and Gene Ryan (220) won by forfeit for C-FP.

Kelsey Gray (113), Jake Boyer (132), Dom Mancini (145) and Ryan Park (170) won by pinfall for the Braves, while Kyle Gray (99) won by decision. Robert Bagley (182) and Eric Moyer (285) won by forfeit for Fonda-Fultonville (7-6 overall).

C-FP found itself in another close contest with a local rival as it posted a 45-42 win over host Johnstown.

Anthony Brock (132), Roberson (152) and VanAvery (195) won by pinfall for Canajoharie-Fort Plain, while Ed Rolle added a 7-2 decision over the Sir Bills' Nate Dutcher at 113 pounds.

Hazzard (99), Payack (106), Trahan (126), Griswold (160) won by forfeit for C-FP.

Jeremy Meher (120), Anthony Mowrey (138), Adam Liss (145), Austin Brand (170) and Joe Nellis (220) won by pinfall for Johnstown (3-5 overall), while Austen Manchester (182) and Brandon Stevens (285) won by forfeit.

Canajoharie-Fort Plain won 10 of 14 weight classes in its 57-24 victory over Cairo-Durham.

The Braves posted a 42-36 win over Cairo-Durham.

In its 72-15 loss to Warrensburg, the Braves won just three of 15 weight classes.

Johnstown's lone win of the day came by a 39-36 margin over Cairo-Durham.

Rams finish sixth,

Dolgeville ninth

DOLGEVILLE - Amsterdam went 2-2 on the second day of competition at the Mountain Duals at Dolgeville Central School on Saturday.

The Rams (16-7 overall) went 4-4 during the tournament and placed sixth overall.

The host Blue Devils (6-4 overall) went 3-1 on Saturday and finished ninth after going 5-3 on the weekend.

Penfield won the team title, defeating General Brown in the championship match.

In its first match, Amsterdam was edged 34-30 by General Brown.

Romeo Jones (113 pounds), Brandon Lapi (132) and Ken Garcia (220) won by pinfall for Amsterdam, while Jorge Rivera (99), Ian Alejandro (120), Dal Orengo (138), Marcus Torres (145), Dan Banewicz (152) all won by decision.

The Rams rebounded to win their second match of the day, 40-36 over Homer.

Alejandro (120), Lapi (132) and Garcia (220) won by pinfall for Amsterdam, while Rob Santiago (182) won by major decision.

Orengo (138) and Torres (145) both won by decision for the Rams, while Monty Carmona (126) and Joe Kelly (285) won by forfeit.

In its final match of pool competition, Amsterdam cruised to a 64-24 win over Albany Academy.
