Police seeking robbery suspects

AMSTERDAM - Police are looking for two men caught on camera robbing a gas station and assaulting a customer and an employee late Sunday night.

According to a news release, city police responded to a call at 9:30 p.m. Sunday at 313 East Main St., the Kings Food and Fuel II location. According to witnesses, two men entered the station, one armed with a small revolver.

One of the men went behind the counter and removed an undetermined amount of cash from the register. The second male suspect remained on the other side of the counter and struck an employee and a customer in the store, though police said no one was injured.

Cash in hand, they ran off from the store in separate directions.

Both suspects are described as black males of light to medium complexion. One was of medium build, wearing a gray sweatshirt, with a light bandana covering his face, jeans and sneakers. The second man had a larger build and was wearing a red sweatshirt, a dark bandana covering his face, jeans and dark colored footwear.

The smaller man had the revolver, and it is unknown if the second male was armed, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information about this robbery to contact the Detective Bureau at 842-1100.
