Storm may hit area late Wednesday

December 24, 2012
By ARTHUR CLEVELAND , The Leader Herald

A winter storm may hit Fulton and Montgomery counties late Wednesday and into Thursday morning, the National Weather Service said.

Hugh Johnson, a meteorologist at the Weather Service's Albany office, said the area may receive at least 6 inches of snow.

"It could be quite significant," said Johnson, who added the possibility of snow, as of today, was still uncertain.

The forecast for Wednesday afternoon calls for a chance of snow after 4 p.m. and a high near 30 degrees. Wednesday night could see blustery winds and a low around 25 degrees.

The chance for snow will rise to roughly 90 percent Wednesday night and into Thursday.

The storm may come up from New Mexico, Johnson said, and it may include some sleet.
