Jeffrey J. Briggs, age 48, of Johnstown, passed away at home on Saturday, December 22, 2012, after being stricken.
Born on October 3, 1964, in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late Leon and Irma Houser Briggs.
He was a 1983 graduate of Johnstown High School and was employed as a heavy-equipment operator.
Survivors include his wife, Sonya Briggs, whom he married on April 23, 1988; one son, Aric Briggs of Johnstown; two daughters, Amanda Bishop and Kaylee Briggs, both of Gloversville; two brothers, William L. Briggs of Gloversville and Timothy Briggs of Broadalbin; eight sisters, Betty Bentley of Georgia, Kathy Van Hoesen of Broadalbin, Shirley Ostrander of Gloversville, Janice St. Louis of Fort Plain, Judy Rickmyer of Gloversville, Rosemary Carter of Fonda, Jacqueline Fox of Gloversville and Cheryl Palumbo of Johnstown; a granddaughter, Mielle Hart; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Leon "Butch" Briggs and a sister Joan Viola Rowback.
A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at 7 p.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
Visitation will be on Wednesday prior to the service from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to an education fund for Meille Hart in care of the funeral home.
