BROADALBIN - People lined Main Street on Thursday night for an informal vigil for the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims, who include an educator who had a house and relatives in the area.
People joined hands in front of the First Presbyterian Church.
The vigil remembered the 26 people who lost their lives in last Friday's tragedy in Newtown, Conn., where a gunman, Adam Lanza, walked into Sandy Hook Elementary School and opened fire, killing children and adults.

People stand with candles along West Main Street in front of the First Presbyterian Church in Broadalbin for a prayer vigil Thursday. Many sang while participating in this vigil.
Among those killed was Sandy Hook Principal Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung, 47, who had a vacation house on Lakeview Road in Broadalbin and whose mother, Cheryl Lafferty, lives in Broadalbin. Hochsprung also had other relatives living in Fulton County.
Authorities say Hochsprung died while trying to stop the gunman.
