Amsterdam boys win TCITL meet at HVCC

TROY - The Amsterdam boys finished first and the girls placed sixth at a Tri-County Indoor Track League meet at Hudson Valley Community College.

The Rams won with a total of 133 points, while Shaker was second with 106.

Columbia (74 points) was third, Troy (47) was fourth and Colonie (35) was fifth.

Amsterdam won nine of 14 events on its way to the victory in the boys' meet.

Izaiah Brown win the 300 meters for the Rams with a time of 37.9 seconds. Brown also won high jump (5-8) and the 600 meters (1:34.1).

Chris Rost won the 55-meter dash for Amsterdam with a time of 6.9 seconds. Rost also placed second in the long jump with a leap of 18-9 1/2.

Anthony Stewart (2:55.8) won the 1,000 meters for Amsterdam, while Josh Turo (3:16.1) was fifth and Patrick Corcoran (3:18.1) was sixth.

Nick Raponi won the 1,600 meters for the Rams with a time of 4:54.6, finishing more than 18 seconds ahead of runner-up Caleb Foard of Mechanicville, who finished with a time of 5:12.7.

Matt Raponi won the 3,200 meters for the Rams with a time of 11:00.3, finishing nearly 30 seconds ahead of Troy's Chris Quinones who finished with a time of 11:30.1.

Amsterdam also won the 4 x 800 relay as the team of Matt Raponi, Nick Raponi, Corcoran and Stewart posted a time of 9:40.3.

Connor Kilgallen won the pole vault for Amsterdam with a height of 10-0. Kilgallen (1:41.2) also was fourth in the 600 meters.

David Gravely (9.7 seconds) was second in the 55-meter hurdles for Amsterdam and placed sixth in the high jump with a leap of 5-0.

Ohmari Sturdivant (16-8 3/4) was sixth in the long jump for Amsterdam and fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 35-7.

Amsterdam also placed second in the 4 x 400 relay.

In the girls meet, Columbia finished first in the team standings with 122 points. Shaker (117.5) was second, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (56) was third, Troy (44) was fourth and Glens Falls (34) was fifth. Amsterdam was sixth with 27 points.

Megan Ottati was second with a time of 1:49.6 for the Lady Rams in the 600 meters

Kelly Paris finished fourth in the 300 meters for Amsterdam with time of 46.1 seconds.

McKenna Palczak was fifth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 10.5 seconds for Amsterdam, while Cassandra Robataille (4-3) was fourth in the high jump.

In the long jump, Abby Wollman (13-8 3/4) was fifth for the Lady Rams and Madison Janetsky (13-6 1/2) was sixth.

Amsterdam also placed third in the 4 x 400 relay with a time of 4:49.5.
