SCHENECTADY - The Fonda-Fultonville boys indoor track team won Saturday's Tri-County Indoor Track League meet at Union College, while the FFCS girls placed second.
In the boys' meet, the Braves finished with 150 points to win the team title. Schalmont (74 points) was second and Cobleskill-Richmondville (59) was third. Broadalbin-Perth placed eighth with 14 points.
Matthew Hoffman (2:48.7) won the 1,000 meters for Fonda-Fultonville, while Joe Fox (2:57.8) was third and Dylan DeSorbo (3:02.3) was fifth.
Hoffman also won the 1,600 meters for the Braves with a time of 4:34.7.
In the 50-meter hurdles, Jacob Hentnik (7.9 seconds) was third, Tom Dwyer (8.2 seconds) was fifth and Joe Fox (8.3 seconds) was sixth.
Fox won the high jump for the Braves with a leap of 5-6, while Dwyer won the triple jump with a leap of 38-5.
Kyle Guiffre won the shot put for FFCS with a throw of 46 1/4, while Dominick Neri was third with a throw of 39-9 1/2.
Fonda-Fultonville swept the top six spots in the pole vault competition.
Hentnik won with a height of 11-6, Dwyer (9-0) was second, Ray Lybolt (8-0) was third, Christian VanAvery (7-6) was fourth, Ben Bogan (7-0) was fifth and Ben Vardai-Davidson (7-0) was sixth.
In the long jump, Hentnik (16-9 1/4) was third, Zach Nizet (16-7 1/4) was fourth and Anthony Angioli (16-2 3/4) was fifth for FFCS.
Fonda-Fultonville had three runners place in the top six of the 600 meters. Tyler Angioli (1:30.2) was second, Jimmy Westman (1:36.7) was third and Lybolt (1:39.0) was fifth.
Michael Sweet (40.9 seconds) was sixth in the 300 meters for the Braves.
The team of Dalton Hunter, Nizet, Michael Sweet and Tyler Angioli won the 4 x 400 relay with a time of 3:52.2.
In the 4 x 800 relay, the team of Hunter, Tyler Angioli, Westman and Dylan DeSorbo won with a time of 9:17.3.
Fonda-Fultonville also placed fourth in the 4 x 200 relay.
The FFCS B team was fourth in the 4 x 400 relay and sixth in the 4 x 800 relay.
Broadalbin-Perth's Greg Bogdan was second in the 3,200 meters with a time of 11:22.9 and fifth in the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:57.1.
Pierre LaPort was fifth in the shot put for the Patriots with a throw of 37-7.
In the girls meet, South Glens Falls won with a team total of 103.5 points. Fonda-Fultonville was second with 102 points and Cobleskill-Richmondville (62 points) was third. Broadalbin-Perth was sixth with 29 points.
Jamie Kasza won the 3,000 meters with a time of 11:39.4 for FFCS. She also placed second in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:16.5.
In the 50-meter hurdles, Lindsay Therrien won for the Lady Braves with a time of 8.5 seconds, while Alesha Heacock (9.3 seconds) was second. Heacock won the triple jump with a leap of 30-10 1/2 and placed third in the high jump with a lead of 4-3.
Rebekah Hentnik won the pole vault for FFCS with a height of 8-6.
Camryn Savoie (28-11 1/4) and Whitney Martuscello (28-4 1/2) placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the shot put for the Lady Braves.
Samantha Phelps (12:46.1) was third in the 3,000 meters for FFCS, while Kimberly Geniti (3:30.5) was second in the 1,000 meters.
Carly Littlejohn (1;54.4) was fourth in the 600 meters for the Lady Braves, and Caitlyn McGuirk (48.9 seconds) was sixth in the 300 meters
Geniti, Katie Wisniewski, Phelps and Guilyan O'Kosky teamed up to win the 4 x 800 relay with a time of 10:54.8.
Fonda-Fultonville also placed second in the 4 x 400 relay, sixth in the 4 x 200 relay
Chelsea LeBlanc (4-8) won the high jump for Broadalbin-Perth.
Montana Smith (5:40.1) was fifth in the 1,500 meters for the Lady Patriots and placed fourth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 12:59.2.
Coreena Monroe (13:51.1) was sixth in the 3,000 meters for B-P, while Anna Smith (32-5) was second in the shot put.
Broadalbin-Perth also placed fifth in the 4 x 800 relay.
Gloversville girls third, boys fourth at HVCC
TROY - The Gloversville girls placed third Saturday in a Tri-County Indoor Track League meet at Hudson Valley Community College, while the boys team was fourth.
In the girls' meet, Carolyn Peck won the 1,000 meters for the Huskies with a time of 3:28.2, while Morgan Rienhardt (3:32.1) was second.
Brittany Craven (11:27.3) was second in the 3,000 meters, while Krysta Lee (26-8 1/2) was third in the shot put.
The 4 x 800 relay team of Craven, Anna Fancher, Darianna Port and Rienhardt was third with a time of 11:38.8.
In the boys' meet, John Knox won the 1,600 and 1,000 meters for Gloversville, finishing with times of 4:32.3 and 2:41.8, respectively.
Alex Gifford won the 600 meters for the Huskies with a time of 1:31.1, while also placing second in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:48.3. Michael Budka placed second in the pole vault, setting a new school record with a height of 11-0.
The team of Knox, Gifford, Jack Hayes and Matthew Rivera placed third in the 4 x 800 relay with a time of 9:23.5.
"All of our athletes did well today," Gloversville coach Stephen Wendt said. "We even had another athlete break a school record, which was Michael Budka in the pole vault with a jump of 11-0. That makes a total of seven school records broken this year, and both teams are looking to break at least five more before the end of the season."
