AMSTERDAM - Montgomery County sheriff's deputies said two men were charged after a deputy noticed marijuana leaves on the shirt and pants of one man.

Joshua A. Ferrucci, 20, of 118 Wemple Ave., Fonda, was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana.

Branden C. Pettit, 22, of 3335 Galway Road, Ballston Spa, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, and was issued tickets for an equipment violation and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Deputies said Ferrucci and Pettit were pulled over on Route 5 due to an equipment violation. Pettit was driving and Ferrucci was sitting in the passenger seat.

Deputies said a strong order of marijuana was coming from the car, and Ferrucci had marijuana leaves on the front of his shirt and pants. A search of the vehicle revealed about four ounces of marijuana as well as multiple items of drug paraphernalia, deputies said.

A DMV check also revealed Pettit's license was suspended due to failure to pay a fine, deputies said.

Both men were released with appearance tickets, and are scheduled to return to Town Court on Dec. 20.
