FORT PLAIN - A Fort Plain businessman previously accused of sexually assaulting a minor has been arrested on charges of driving while under the influence of drugs.
Dennis Todd, 62, of 24 Willet St., was charged by village police with driving while ability impaired by drugs, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to keep right.
According to police, Todd was arrested after officers responded to the scene of a hit-and-run accident on Railroad Street. Within minutes, the vehicle and driver, Todd, were located. A field sobriety test was administered, police said. He was arrested and processed at the station.
Todd previously was charged Aug. 18 with first-degree criminal sexual act based on allegations he had sexual contact with a 13-year-old boy.
He also was charged with first-degree assault after being accused of striking a man in the head with a baseball bat Aug. 16.
On Aug. 31, WNYT aired video footage showing Todd yelling at and chasing a cameraman until police officers arrived and restrained him.
Todd is the chief executive officer of Old Fort Plaza and owner of Dennis' Daylight Donuts, according to state Department of State records.
