Mary E. Gardiner

Mary E. Gardiner, formerly of Gloversville, N.Y., died Sunday, December 2, 2012, at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center in Schenectady, N.Y.

She was born on July 20, 1919, in Gloversville, and she was the daughter of Arthur and Lena Schults Clements. Mary was a lifelong resident until moving to the Kingsway Community in 2004.

She graduated from Gloversville High School, Green Mountain Junior College and the Nathan Littauer Nursing School. She was employed as a general duty and private duty nurse and worked in various capacities for the Fulton County Department of Social Services. At the time of her retirement, she was the Supervisor of Children's Services.

Mary was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she served as a vestryman, member of the choir, former St. Martha's Guild, Altar Guild, and clerk of the vestry. She was a former member of the Fulton County Children's Committee, Board of Managers of the Getman Home, Nathan Littauer Nurses Alumni, 1793 Club, and the Fulton County Retiree's Group.

She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth W Gardiner in March, 1991.

She is survived by three children, Gregory (Carol) Gardiner of Schenectady, NY, Pamela (Reverend Dr. James) Dunn of Stockton, CA, and William (Kathy) Gardiner of Schenectady.

Grandchildren include Courtney Dunn Wise (Steve), Tricia Dunn Brock (David), Heather Dunn Voyer (Nathan) of Stockton, CA, and Bailey, Elizabeth, Daniel Gardiner of Schenectady, and three great grandchildren, Ireland, Caprisa, and Magnum Brock of Stockton, CA.

Mary donated her body to science through the anatomical gift program at Albany Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank the employees of the Kingsway Community including Kingsway Village, Kingsway Manor and Kingsway Arms for the compassion, care, and thoughtfulness shown to her throughout her stay.
