Girls Basketball Roundup: Fonda-Fultonville wins Canajoharie Tip-Off Tournament title

CANAJOHARIE - Emily Parslow finished with 18 points to lead Fonda-Fultonville to a 57-43 win over Canajoharie in the championship game of the Canajoharie Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday.

"It's a good start to the season. It's nice get two wins before we head into Colonial Council play, which is always tough," Fonda-Fultonville coach Wendi Waters said. "We've still got some things to work on, but it's nice to be 2-0 after our first two games."

Parslow was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, while Emily Frollo also was named to the all-tournament team for the Lady Braves.

Frollo finished with nine points and five rebounds for FFCS, while Jeananna Warner scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Cassandra Egelston added five assists for the Lady Braves.

Kara Schwab scored nine points to lead Canajoharie, while Alexis Kane added eight points.

Fonda-Fultonville (2-0 overall) is off until Friday when it opens Colonial Council play at Schalmont.

Canajoharie (1-1 overall) will host Northville on Wednesday in its Western Athletic Conference opener.

In the consolation game, Dolgeville posted a 40-36 win over Galway.

Mary Reardon finished with 10 points to lead the Blue Devils (1-1 overall), while Crystal Barton added eight points. Dolgeville converted 14 of 29 free throws in the game.

Erica Chase scored 13 points to lead Galway, which went 5-for-17 from the free-throw line.

FORT PLAIN - Haley Kilmartin scored 15 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and had five steals to lead Fort Plain to a win over Poland in the Section II/Section III Challenge at Harry Hoag Elementary School.

Abby Boyer finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Lady Hilltoppers (2-0 overall), who defeated Herkimer in Friday night's action. Allehah Van Loan added four rebounds and four assists for Fort Plain.

Kara Morrison scored eight points and 10 rebounds to lead Poland (0-2 overall), while Paige Sullivan finished with seven points.

In Saturday's other game, Berne-Knox-Westerlo rolled to a 51-28 win over Herkimer.

Liz Harvey scored 21 points and had four steals to lead the Lady Bulldogs (2-0 overall), while Mary Salo scored 12 points and grabbed 18 rebounds.

Sarah Abbott added an 11-point effort for BKW.

Emily Avery scored eight points to lead Herkimer (0-2 overall).

On Friday, Fort Plain defeated Herkimer, 55-39. Boyer had 23 points and 13 rebounds for Fort Plain, while Kilmartin finished with 12 points, 13 rebounds, five steals and four blocks. Van Loan added 11 points for the Lady Hilltoppers.

In Friday's other game, Berne-Knox-Westerlo posted a 52-34 win over Poland. Harvey scored 30 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
