Barkevich inducted into hall of fame

ALBANY - Bruce Barkevich, a 1983 Gloversville graduate, recently was inducted into the Albany Twilight League Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the Polish American Citizens Club.

Barkevitch was a catcher and manager for the Dreyer Boyajian franchise (formerly Rensselaer Honda, State Color) from 1987 until 2010. He is the league's all-time leader in at-bats (1,580) and hits (479). Berkevich also ranks in the top five in RBIs (281), doubles (65) and walks (244).

Barkevich holds a career average of .303 and was a five-time all-star. As a manager, he compiled 126 wins from 1998 until 2010 and led two teams to the league championship series, finishing second in 1998 and 2001. Off the field, Barkevich served as league vice president from 1999-2011.
