JOHNSTOWN - The Fulton County Board of Supervisors voted last week to sell more than $7,400 worth of equipment, including many surplus vehicles, to the public.
The board authorized the sale of about 20 equipment items that were made available to the public from the county's Solid Waste and Highways and Facilities departments.
The board earlier this year authorized advertisement for bids for sale of the equipment, and several bids were received.
"It doesn't look like a lot of money for some of this stuff," said Stratford Supervisor Robert E. Johnson Jr.
County Administrative Officer Jon Stead said about half of the items were purchased originally as used government surplus equipment. He said county Solid Waste Director Jeff Bouchard recommended a $250 minimum bid for some of the items. The other half of the items were from the Highways and Facilities Department, he said.
The board authorized the sale of these items to the following bidders: 1994 pickup truck, $775 - Richard Lynaugh of Johnstown; 1988 van, $350 -Rebecca Montano of Gloversville; 1999 Taurus LX, $261 - Peter Battisti of St. Johnsville; 1988 tool truck, $655 - Tim Cheney of Johnstown; 1994 pickup truck, $378 - Battisti; 1973 generator, $115 - Cheney; flood lighting unit with trailer, $333 - Stanley Spoar of St. Johnsville; flood lighting unit without trailer, $179 - Spoar; sweeper vac, $10 - Terry Ackernecht of Johnstown; 2005 van, $679 - John Subik of Mayfield; two 2000 4X4 trucks, $702 total - Battisti; 2002 4X4 truck, $801 - Dale Van Epps; 1975 water tanker, $1,603 - Apollo Northeast of Johnstown; 2006 Crown Victoria, $459 - Subik; two 2007 Crown Victorias, $829 total - Subik; 2007 Crown Victoria, $301 - Battisti.
In other business, board Chairman Michael F. Gendron reported on Capital District Off-Track Betting Corp. revenue to the county for 2012. He said the county may end up with about $5,000 more in OTB revenue - bringing in a total of about $57,000 - than it budgeted for, which was $52,000.
