Rams’ Rodriguez earns honors

Several Amsterdam and Gloversville players were among those honored on the recently announced Class A football all-stars.

Amsterdam's Geo Rodriguez was named the Northwest Division Player of the Year, while Amsterdam's Brett Stanavich was named Offensive Player of the Year.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake's David Newell and Eric Dillon were named the Defensive Player of the Year and All-Purpose Player of the Year, respectively.

Amsterdam's Robert Sherlock (wide receiver), Julian Gallup (wide receiver) and Hector Diaz (running back) were named to the first-team offense.

Gloversville wide receiver Mike Murray also was named to the first-team offense.

Also named to the first-team offense were offensive linemen Bryan Doheny (South Glens Falls), Nick Marchesiello (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake), J.P. McCauley (Queensbury), Rob Fisher (Queensbury) and Shane Fisher (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake).

Tight end Dylan Borkowski (Queensbury); running backs Dan Porter (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Phil Wettersten (Queensbury); and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake quarterback Ryan McDonnell also were named to the first-team offense.

Defensive linemen Hunter Goodwin (Gloversville), Isiah Martin (Amsterdam) and Mason Calhoun (Amsterdam) were named to the first-team defense along with linebackers Mike Fancher (Gloversville) and Kolbie Glionna (Amsterdam). Also named to the first-team defense were defensive backs Asa Barnhill (Gloversville) and Dan Banewicz (Amsterdam).

Rounding out the first-team defense were defensive linemen Chris Johnson (Queensbury) and Nico Fragale (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake); linebackers Evan Meyers (Queensbury) and Logan Ball (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake); and defensive backs Alston Moses (Queensbury) and Shamari Ingram (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake).

Amsterdam kicker Marcus Pritchard was named a first-team all-star, while South Glens Falls specialist Caleb Lawrence also was named to the first team.

The second team offense included linemen Kyle Casimiro (Gloversville) and Christian Lopez (Amsterdam).

Rounding out the second-team offense were Marc Lambert (Queensbury), Roz Warren (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Shane Briaddy (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake); tight ends Dan Nuzzi (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Dan Carpenter (South Glens Falls); and running back Vince Dowdie (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake).

Amsterdam defensive lineman Ken Garcia, Gloversville defensive lineman David Delrio, Amsterdam linebacker Devin Rosario, Amsterdam defensive back Del Orengo and Gloversville defensive back David Vandenabeele (Gloversville) were named to the second team defense.

Rounding out the second-team defense were defensive linemen Chris Goudy (Queensbury), Nate Sawyer (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Paul Krowel (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake); linebackers Andrew Homkey (Queensbury), Jack Meher (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Travis Schrammel (South Glens Falls) and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake defensive back Billy Chapman.

South Glens Falls' kicker Alex Stark was named the second-team kicker, while Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake specialist also was named to the second team.

Class A

Southeast Division

Troy's Nick Valenti was named the Class A Southeast Division Player of the Year.

Scotia-Glenville's Andrew Tabbert was named the Southeast Division Offensive Player of the Year, while Averill Park's Dominic Bandetti was named Defensive Player of the Year.

Troy's Pat Chamberlain was named All-Purpose Player of the Year in the Southeast Division.

Offensive linemen Johnathan Rogers (Averill Park), Sean Donnolly (Troy), Ryan Byrnes (Troy), Anthony Mazzucco (Scotia-Glenville) and Nicholas VanAuken (Scotia-Glenville) were named to the Southeast Division first-team offense.

Also named to the first-team offense were tight ends James Waters (Troy) and Tommy Wheeler (Bishop Maginn); wide receivers Derrick Thomas (Bishop Maginn) and Dontrevious Porter (Scotia-Glenville); running backs Kahree Langston (Bishop Maginn), Nick Gorgelas (Scotia-Glenville) and Vinny DiTrapano (Mohonasen); and quarterback Dan Zegler (Scotia-Glenville).

Defensive linemen Kenny Fortune (Mohonasen), Victor Pirela (Troy), Roy McClarey (Troy), Shannon Smith (Scotia-Glenville) and Tyler Vanderbogart (Averill Park) were named to the Southeast Division first-team defense.

Linebackers Eric Pierone (Mohonasen), Nick Schaub (Scotia-Glenville) and Nick Mariano (Troy) also were named to the first-team defense along with Trevon Tucker (Mohonasen), Jeremy Nixon (Bishop Maginn), Jason Simon (Scotia-Glenville) and Maurice Jones (Troy).

Troy kicker Rafik Mekhaldi, Mohonasen punter Justin Kretzler and Averill Park specialist Taylor Hotaling took home the Southeast Division special teams honors.

The Southeast Division second-team offense included offensive linemen Ryan Corbitt (Mohonasen), Ryan Crobok (Troy), Ja'juan Williams (Bishop Maginn), Bryan Ziembiec (Bishop Maginn) and Patrick Wellington (Averill Park); wide receivers Jordan Nelson (Troy), Damien Montgomery (Mohonasen) and Dylan Storm (Bishop Maginn); running backs Trivon Tucker (Mohonasen), Nick Valenti (Averill Park) and Dan Reichelt (Troy); and quarterbacks Joey Deso (Bishop Maginn).

Defensive linemen Raiquan Ward (Troy), Andrew Bailey (Scotia-Glenville), Joe Graham (Scotia-Glenville), Romello Ellis (Mohonasen) and Andres Colon (Bishop Maginn) were named to the second-team defense.

Rounding out the second-team defense were linebackers Stefphan Cohoon (Bishop Maginn), Angelo Coppola (Scotia-Glenville) and Paris Jenkins (Bishop Maginn); and defensive backs Joe Germinerio (Troy), Anthony Judge (Troy), Tyler Moses (Averill Park) and Collin Fleming (Averill Park).
