ITHACA - Fonda-Johnstown's Erica Askew and Meghan Bartlett both posted solid showings Friday at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association swimming and diving championships at Ithaca College.
Bartlett placed sixth in the 1-meter diving competition, while Askew placed 16th in the 100-yard breaststroke preliminaries.
Bartlett, a senior, posted a total of 428.65 in the 11-dive competition, which was won by Chenango Valley's MacKenzie Moss with a total of 458.50. Lockport's Paige Kelkenberg (455.55 points) was second, Hilton's Hannah Wheater (449.95) was third, Suffern's Abby Croce (436.95) was fourth and Ithaca's Ayla Bonniwell (432.90) was fifth.

It was the fourth trip to the state meet for Bartlett, who qualified for states in her first opportunity this season at an 11-dive meet at Saratoga Springs High School on Sept. 22.
Bartlett, who placed sixth, 15th and 16th in her previous three state-meet appearances, was seeded second heading into this year's meet.
Bartlett, the top diver for Section II this season, placed 15th overall at the state meet in 2011 after placing sixth in 2010 and 16th in 2009.
Askew, a junior, posted a time of 1:08.47 in the 100 breaststroke Friday.
Nicole Papsco posted the top time in prelims with a 1:03.85.
Askew qualified for the state championship meet at the Section II Division II championships on Nov. 1 and 2 at Shenendehowa High School.
She won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.14, which earned her the 23rd seed in the state meet.
The state meet concludes today with the championship finals in the swimming events. The second day of competition is set to begin at 10 a.m.
