AMSTERDAM - City police, in conjunction with state and federal authorities, executed several raids and searches early this morning, resulting in the arrests of 11 people and the seizure of illegal drugs, cash and firearms.
According to a news release from Detective Lt. Kurt J. Conroy, state police, Schenectedy County SWAT, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office deputies and the FBI Capital District Gang Task Force raided several locations across the city of Amsterdam, executing five search warrants and eleven arrest warrants for drug sales and conspiracy to commit crimes.
The search and arrest warrants were signed by Montgomery County Court Judge Felix Catena and City Court Judge Howard M. Aison, respectively. Authorities seized quantities of heroin and marijuana, two stolen handguns, cash and several vehicles.
More details will be released at a news conference this afternoon, police said.
