Betty M. Lomanto, daughter of the late F. William and Josephine Lebenheim, passed away November 8, 2012, at Fulton Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare. She was born March 5, 1925, and graduated from Gloversville High School in 1942 and Simmons College in 1946. Mrs. Lomanto continued her education with a teaching and Master's degree from SUNY Oneonta.
She was a second grade teacher at Park Terrace School for 28 years, enjoying her students and colleagues.
Betty was a 71 year member of the First Presbyterian Church and its Semper Fidelis Class. She was also a lifetime PTA recipient.
She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt and a trusted friend. The family wishes to thank the Fulton Center for their loving care.
Mrs. Lomanto is survived by her children, Mary Jo, Barbara, William (Kayoko); and two grandsons, Michael and Kazuma. She is also survived by in-laws, Mrs. Connie Salluzzo, Mary Jane Lomanto, Atty Edward (Nancy) Lomanto and Judge Angelo (Grace) Lomanto; nieces, nephews and cousins. Betty was predeceased by in-laws, Humbert Salluzzo, James and Rose Lomanto, Salvatore and Betty Lomanto, Philip and Frances Spencer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at the First Congregational Church, 31 E. Fulton St., Gloversville, with Reverend John Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
