On Friday, I was part of a group of veterans that were thanked by the student body and staff of the Edinburg Common School. We ranged from WWII to Operation Enduring Freedom. To say that as a group we were overwhelmed is an understatement.
They sang "God Bless the U.S.A." To which I noticed, I wasn't the only one wiping my eyes. They put on a little skit for us. Mentioning about the roles service men and women play in all five branches of our military. (A little footnote: Women have been beside men, in service to their country. From Valley Forge, Pa., to the present.) Then they asked us questions about our service time.
It was quite an afternoon. Thank you to the students, thank you to the staff and thank you to Mrs. Gill.
