It's November, and that can only mean one thing, it's Epilepsy Awareness Month.
Epilepsy is recurrent seizures due to an unusual electrical activity in the brain and can be caused my many things such as head injuries, low oxygen during birth and abnormal levels of substances such as sodium or blood sugar. Some causes are unknown.
Around 180,000 new cases are reported each year. There is no cure for epilepsy, and in many cases, epilepsy can lead to brain damage and/or death.
It is my hope and every other person living with epilepsy's hope that someday there will be a cure. So, together, let's spread the word and raise awareness today.
