SCHENECTADY - The chairwoman of Schenectady County Legislature and 12 of its other 18 members recently issued a statement endorsing their colleague Angelo Santabarbara in his race for state Assembly in the new 111th District.
"He is a family man who cares deeply about our community," Chairwoman Judith Dagostino and 12 fellow legislators said in a letter released to the media this week. "Angelo serves on the Board of Directors for the Autism Society of the Greater Capital Region and owns a cheese-making business which donates all profits to children's charities. An engineer by trade, Angelo established a scholarship program for high school seniors pursuing an engineering degree."
The letter points out Santabarbara's service in the Army Reserves and the fact that he has worked with charities supporting autism research.
"We know Angelo will take his experience to Albany to fight for our families," the legislators said in the statement.
Santabarara, a Democrat from Rotterdam, is running against Republican Tom Quackenbush of Minden for the position. The 111th Assembly District will include portions of Montgomery, western Schenectady and northwestern Albany counties.
