Change was for worse

October 31, 2012
The Leader Herald

I received the "New Frontier" phone book. To my surprise, it was a business-listing-only directory. I received a phone call the next day asking if I had received my new phone book.

I replied that I had and asked about the residential part of the book. I was informed that I needed to call to request one. I didn't see anything on the phone book itself as to where I needed to call, so I dug the bag out of the garbage to find an index card stating if I would like a residential listing book to call an 800 number to request one.

As I looked at the phone book a little longer, I did notice at the bottom there is a statement that residential white pages are not included and to call for a copy. It also states that the residential listings can be found online at the address listed at the bottom of the phone book.

I called on Monday morning to request my copy, but got a voice-mail stating no one was available to take my call and leave a message and they will get back to me. I did receive my call back Monday afternoon and was informed that it could take up to a month because the residential portion hasn't gone to print yet.

The reason I am writing to you is because I am very upset with what they have done. I am a small- business owner who pays a lot of money to advertise in the Frontier book. So I feel like Frontier is pushing people to use the Internet. Well, a lot of people do not have computers, iPhones, smart phones, etc., such as the elderly and folks who just cannot afford computers or phones.

So, how well are my advertising dollars going to be spent with the changes they have made, and how many people are just going to throw them out. I was never informed of this change they were making when they contacted me for the new advertising for this year.

I wish I was informed so I could have made some changes to the way I advertise for my business. I am a very disappointed customer at this point, and I am sure I am not the only one.
