Gladys B. Oaksford, 91, formerly of North Main Street, Broadalbin, died Sunday evening, October 28, 2012, at Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown.
She was born in Northampton on January 12, 1921, a daughter of Leon and Alice Wood Brown and was educated in local schools.
Gladys was a member of the Broadalbin United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries in Broadalbin, and served as secretary of the American Legion Auxiliary for eighteen years. Gladys was also a former member of the Johnstown Moose Club.
She was married to Benjamin Banach on April 17, 1948. He died January 20, 1988. She later married Richard A. Oaksford on June 18, 1988. He died on December 12, 2004. She was also predeceased by her brother, Nelson Brown, and her two sisters, Jeannette Cornell and Dorothy Freeman.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 and Black Street) Johnstown, with the Rev. Bill Delia officiating. Burial will be in Union Mills Cemetery. A calling hour will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
