I am writing this letter to the editor to allow the citizens of Gloversville the benefit of my experience with one of the candidates for City Court judge. For well over two decades, I have practiced law in Fulton County and the surrounding counties. I was a public defender for many years, have had a private practice for more than 20 years, and have appeared in Gloversville City Court probably close to 1,000 times in my career.
I have had the opportunity to work with the Honorable John Clo for most of my legal career, and have had numerous matters with and against Judge Clo. He has always impressed me with his passion for the law and his compassion for the people he has represented. As an ADA for Montgomery County for years, he was driven by fairness but stern in his application of the laws that protected the public. As a private attorney in and out of Family Court and Supreme Court with many matrimonial matters, he has always been prepared, thorough and dedicated not only to his client, but to the legal system that we have the privilege of representing as litigation attorneys in upstate New York.
I have had hundreds of cases with Judge Clo, only a few with Matthew Trainor, and none with Traci DiMezza, so I cannot comment or address their competency as a prospective judge or their dedication to the law, their clients or the legal system.
But I can honestly and emphatically let the citizens of Gloversville know that John Clo, the father, husband, citizen, attorney and judge, will continue to provide exemplary service to the community, all while being fair, stern and a man worthy of your vote.
It has been, and I am confident it will continue to be, an honor to practice law with Judge Clo.
