Consider ‘cultural conscious’ community

October 29, 2012
The Leader Herald

Time and time again, it has become abundantly clear that numerous grassroots, average-size cities, towns and villages have become recognized as "cultural conscious" communities that are a "must" for tourists to visit.

In the tourism industry, motivation and incentives make up the bed-rock foundations upon which lucrative tourism programs are constructed.

The visual and performing arts, when properly maintained, continually attract hobbyists, collectors, dedicated financial benefactors, loyal patrons, etc., and by doing so, provide additional exposure and awareness to the varied historical sites an area may also have to offer.

All sizes of bed-and-breakfast sites are rapidly emerging within any of these expanding tourism markets. Now that the Chamber of Commerce in Fulton and Montgomery counties have joined together at the hip, a joint cooperative partnership between the two agencies for the sole purpose of making one overall "cultural conscious" community of sorts which can establish the necessary motivational and incentives, which will definitely attract the tourist dollars, should warrant serious consideration.

For starters, a community boasting a significant number of B & B incentives would certainly help jump-start the entire project in the right direction.
