This year's annual fundraiser for the Gloversville Public Library, the Celebration, was a very special event for the members of the organizing committee - Ellen Wood, Lynn Kicinski and myself - because we were able to host the event at the library itself.
Doing so gave us the opportunity to showcase the restorations and repairs funded by six years of community support. In those six years, we have raised more than $115,000 thanks to the combined efforts of many volunteers from the community, the Friends of the Gloversville Public Library and the library staff. This year alone, we raised more than $28,000.
It was our pleasure to pull together all the artists, artisans, basket makers and basket wrappers, ticket takers, decorators, sponsors and donors, bidders and buyers and attendees in recognition of the importance of our historic Carnegie library to the revitalization of our community. Thank you for rewarding our optimism with such a success.
