FONDA - Nearly every member of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors signed a letter endorsing Minden Supervisor Tom Quackenbush for state assemblyman.
Quackenbush, a Republican, is running against Angelo Santabarbara, a Democrat, for the 111th Assembly District seat. The district will include portions of Montgomery, western Schenectady and northwestern Albany counties.
Republicans, Democrats and Conservatives on the Board of Supervisors signed the endorsement letter. The board has 15 members, including Quackenbush. All 14 of his fellow supervisors except for Amsterdam 2nd Ward Supervisor Jeffrey Stark, a Democrat, signed the letter.
"The lies endorsed by the Angelo Santabarbara campaign are a desperate attempt by an opportunistic politician, who switched from Republican to Democrat, to smear the reputation of an honorable man," the letter states.
Santabarbara is a Schenectady County legislator. The general election will take place Nov. 6.
