May E. Yost, 86, of County Highway 107, Fort Johnson, died Friday morning, October 26, 2012, at home with family at her side following a short illness.
She was born at home in Johnstown on June 15, 1926, a daughter of John and Sarah Lockhart Little and was educated in local schools. May was a longtime resident of the town of Perth.
Mrs. Yost was the owner of Flyin' Y Mobile Park in Perth, which she and her late husband established in 1969. Years ago, she was a real estate broker with Little's Realty. May was a former toll collector for the New York State Thruway. She was a dedicated citizen of the town of Perth where she served for a number of years as an assessor, tax collector, member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, member of the Park Committee, and at the time of her death, she was the town historian. She also was a notary public.
Mrs. Yost was a member of the Perth Seniors, the Johnstown Historical Society, the Perth Democratic Club, as well as the Fulton County ABC Board and a former member of the Johnstown BPW Club.
She was married to Lewis E. Yost on July 14, 1946. He died December 23, 1991.
Survivors include: two daughters, Lynn D. Lasher of Fort Johnson and Kyle E. (Donald) Borst of Randall; a brother, John (Patricia) Little Jr. of Pattersonville; a sister, Catherine Little of Johnstown; five grandchildren, Burt (Tammy) Lasher Jr., Kelly Borst, Holly (Michael) Davis, Raymond (Kathy) Borst, and Frank Borst; six great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Korey, Kyle, Katelyn, Madison, and Tucker; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation will be performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A celebration of her life will be held on November 7, 2012, from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Perth Senior Center, 1849 County Highway 107, Amsterdam. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106, Johnstown, N.Y.
