GANSEVOORT - The North Eastern Athletic Conference named SUNY Cobleskill sophomore Rebekah Johnson, an Amsterdam graduate, the league's Female Cross Country Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending Oct. 21.
This marks the fourth time this season that the Amsterdam native has been honored by the NEAC with the Female Cross Country Student-Athlete-of-the-Week award.
Johnson led the Fighting Tigers women's cross country team to a 10th-place finish in a field of 12 teams Oct. 20 at the 2012 New York State College Track Conference Meet hosted by Nazareth College at Center Park in Fairport. Johnson placed 31st overall in a field of 143 runners by covering the 6,000-meter course in a time of 24:19.85.
Cobleskill will return to action Saturday when they travel to Lorimer, Pa., for the NEAC Championships hosted by Penn State Abington at Lorimer Park, starting at 9 a.m.
