GANSEVOORT - Matthew Sleezer, a Gloversville graduate and a member of the Wells College men's swimming team, earned North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week ending Oct. 21.?
Sleezer opened the season with three first-place finishes, winning the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.02), the 100-yard freestyle (0:52.38) and the 100-yard individual medley (1:03.63) in the Express' 86-28 victory over Bard College at Simon's Rock on Sept. 29.?
During the Hartwick College Relays on Oct. 13, Sleezer led all seven lanes with a time of 22.94 seconds through the first 50 yards of the men's 850-yard crescendo free relay. In the men's 200-yard freestyle relay, Sleezer finished the final 50 yards for the Express, posting the event's second-best final lap time (22.74).?
Sleezer also was part of the 400-yard medley relay team that set the sixth-fastest time in program history (4:25.37). Sleezer was a member of the four-man relay that captured the program's best time on Feb. 17, 2012 with a time of 3:58.57.?
Wells will compete at Brockport on Nov. 3 at 1 p.m.
