H.S. Volleyball Roundup: B-P advances to quarterfinals

BROADALBIN - Caitlin Rasefske finished with 14 assists, 13 service points, three kills and three digs to lead the Broadalbin-Perth volleyball team to a 3-2 win over Schuylerville in the first round of the Section II Class B Tournament on Wednesday.

The seventh-seeded Lady Patriots won by scores of 25-22, 22-25, 23-25, 25-23 and 25-20.

Chelsea LeBlanc posted 10 points, nine kills, three digs, three blocks and two aces for B-P (11-6 overall), while Allison Lysiak registered 11 kills, seven points and four aces.

Keyana Fariello finished with 13 assists, four kills, four digs and four points for the Lady Patriots, and Regan Reed added 12 points, five kills, four digs and two aces.

Kayla Brenz finished with 16 kills and 15 blocks for 10th-seeded Schuylerville, while Kim Sullivan posted 10 digs, nine kills and seven points. McKayla Thomas registered 12 kills and 11 digs for the Black Horses, while Ari Fay added 25 assists.

Broadalbin-Perth will travel to second-seeded Hoosic Valley on Friday for a 5 p.m. quarterfinal contest. Hoosic Valley (17-1 overall) swept No. 15 seed Chatham, 3-0, winning by scores of 25-13, 25-15 and 25-6 on Wednesday.

GREENVILLE - Sierra Goodfellow finished with 11 service points, seven assists, five kills and four aces to lead Greenville to a win over Fonda-Fultonville in the opening round of the Class C tournament.

The sixth-seeded Lady Spartans won by scores of 30-28, 25-12, 21-25 and 25-20.

Emily Fishlinger posted 15 points and 13 digs for Greenville (16-2 overall), while Bethany Mitchell registered 10 points and seven kills. Elizabeth Boomhower finished with nine points and seven digs for the Lady Spartans, and Sarah Amedure added six assists.

Kerri McCaslin finished with 15 points and 10 assists for 11th-seeded Fonda-Fultonville, while Miranda Nethaway posted six kills and four blocks.

Greenville advances to the quarterfinals to face third-seeded Galway (17-1 overall) on Friday at 5 p.m. in Galway. The Golden Eagles advances with a 3-0 win over 14th-seeded Catskill, winning by scores of 25-7, 25-15 and 25-15. Emily Orminski finished with 14 points, 11 assists, six aces and four kills for Galway, while Emily Zawisa posted eight points, seven kills and two aces.

Class D First Round

Schoharie 3, Canajoharie 1

SCHOHARIE - Ally Blyth posted 11 kills and nine service points to lead Schoharie to a win over Canajoharie in the opening round of the Class D tournament.

The Indians won by scores of 26-24, 19-25, 25-22 and 25-14.

Briana Borst finished with eight kills for Schoharie, while Sierra Diamond added 16 service points and 12 assists.

Schoharie (12-3 overall) will play at third-seeded Lake George (11-6 overall) on Friday in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m.

Canajoharie finishes its season with a 5-9 overall record.
