FLORIDA - Montgomery?County sheriff's deputies said a man was arrested?Sunday for leaving an accident scene about two weeks earlier.
James D. Passaniti, 27, of 46 Storrie St., Amsterdam, was charged Sunday with speed not reasonable and prudent, failure to report a property damage accident and leaving the scene of a property-damage accident.
The day of the motor-vehicle accident, deputies responded to the scene on Route 30 south of the city of Amsterdam. Deputies found a green Buick that was heavily damaged, and two telephone poles sheared off at their base.
Deputies said a witness saw two males exit the vehicle after the crash and run toward the city of Amsterdam.
Despite an extensive search of nearby properties, deputies said, the suspects were not located.
Deputies said after a two-week investigation, Passaniti, the registered owner of the Buick, was charged.
Passaniti was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Town?Court on Nov. 19.
