New data from the state Department of Labor show the unemployment rates in Fulton and Montgomery counties are among the highest in the state.
Fulton County's unemployment rate in September was 10.6 percent, which was the second-highest unemployment rate in the state. Fulton County's rate was unchanged from August and up from 9.8 percent in September 2011.
Montgomery County's unemployment rate in September was 9.9 percent, the third-highest rate in the state. Montgomery County's rate was down from 10.3 percent in August but up from 9.5 percent in September 2011.
Hamilton County's rate was 6.3 percent in September, up from 5.2 percent in August and 5.6 percent in September 2011.
The Bronx had the highest September unemployment rate in the state, at 12.1 percent.
The state's September rate was 8.2 percent, and the nation's rate was 7.6 percent, according to Labor Department data.
